At Home Family Photo Session: Saturday Pancake Breakfast with the Wood’s Family

This in-home family photoshoot was everything a photographer (and mom) dreams of! Childhood is fleeting, and being a parent is so all encompassing that sometimes we forget, the magic is really and truly in the mundane moments.

I went over to the Wood’s home on a Saturday morning and after some short introductions and hiding my personal belongings, we got straight into it! Alex had prepped the breakfast table beforehand but waited to make the pancakes. That meant we got to capture real moments unfolding, and her oldest daughter had something to focus on that didn’t include the camera pointed at them. Shortly after, we went to wake up their youngest from her first nap. Then it was time for breakfast!

As an Edmonton Family Photographer, I know Winter can feel long and bleak. Many families wait until the Summer or Fall for photos outdoors. But let me tell you a little secret…there’s something SO special about capturing photos of your family inside your home. And they’re are SO many great aspects about an in home photoshoot.

In home family sessions have a relaxed and natural quality to them built in. We spend so much time in our homes, and what’s inside of them are a reflection of who we are.

As a mother myself who works during the week, the weekends are coveted family time, and I know when I’m 80 I will go back in my memories to the slow mornings at home spent with my own son.

My in home family sessions aren’t about making every single picture perfect and posed. They’re actually quite the opposite. I aim to give you a gallery that feels more like a flashback and allows you to see and remember the cute, funny, chaotic moments that come when raising littles.

For the Wood family, I hope this session helps them to celebrate the love their family shares, the fun they have together and the beautiful children they created and are raising.
